2017-2018 Competition Team “The Company” Open to ages 6+

August 26th, 2017 Times/Cost TBA: “Hoot Camp” Auditions Day 1
      Dancers who want to audition are required to attend Hoot Camp. Hoot camp is a day to prepare for what is to come at auditions the next day. It is a good introduction into the discipline required to be part of the competition team.

August 27th, 2017 Times/Cost TBA: Auditions Day 2
Auditions are an hour long and allow us to decide what categories each dancer should be placed in for the competition season. Categories are broken down by level (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced), by age (Minis, Pre-Teens,Teens, Seniors), and group size (Solo, Duet, Trio, Small Group, Large Group). Dancers will be asked to fill out a questionnaire and turn it in on the day of auditions indicating their preferences (no guarantees). Auditions will be for Technical dancers and then Hip Hop dancers, everyone is welcome to audition for both! Results will be posted on our website and sent via e-mail by 11:00pm on the 27th.


What To Expect

We are looking for dedicated and passionate dancers. Don’t be discouraged if you are new to dance! We want dancers who love to perform and won’t shy away from a new challenge. Dancers who are selected for our Competition Team aka The Company will rehearse from September – December. We go to competitions from January – April, and celebrate with a casual banquet in May. Then do it all over again! Rehearsal schedules depend on how many pieces each dancer is in. If you are only doing a small group you will rehearse once a week, if you are doing a small group, a solo, and a duet you will have 3 rehearsals per week and so on. We do our best to coordinate rehearsals with when your dancer attends class.


Required Classes:

Depending on your dancer’s age and level they are required to take at least 3 classes per week in addition to their rehearsals. This is to maintain their technique and help them continuously improve their skills. You do not have to participate in recital for every class, it is your choice.

All Company members are required to take the following:

One Ballet Class

One Hip Hop Class

One Technical or Hip Hop Class (depending on style preference)

Recommended, but not required, classes for Company members:
Additional Technical or Hip Hop class, Improv, Character Development, Turns and Leaps, Acro.
*Technical class = Jazz, Lyrical, or Contemporary



Rehearsal Fees: Depending on how many pieces your dancer is involved in dictates your monthly fees. Competition rehearsals fees are paid between the 1st and 10th of the month, like tuition. Rehearsal fees are as follow: Solo rehearsals $60 per hour, Duet/Trio rehearsals $30 per hour, Small Groups $18 per hour, Large Groups $15 per hour.
Competition Fees: Competitions and Conventions will be determined by August, many have yet to release their 2017-2018 Schedule. In addition there are entrance fees for each competition and convention fees for the 1 convention we attend each year. Competition Fees are due by the end of October that way we are able to register far in advance, many competitions sell out. Competition entry fees are less expensive than conventions. On average competition registration fees are about $115 for a solo, $60 for a duet or trio, $50 for small or large groups. Our goal is to attend mostly Tampa and Lakeland locations of competitions
Convention Fees: Conventions are not only competitions, but also daily classes by the best in the industry. Convention fees range from $200 – $300. For the 2017-2018 season we intend to participate in 1 or 2 conventions. All intermediate and advanced competition team members are required to attend both conventions, novice team



We understand competition can be intimidating due to the financial commitment. We will be planning two car washes to help alleviate the burden; one in September and the other sometime in the spring. Dancers will be able to do “pre-sale” car wash tickets and then we will also collect money day of. Profits will be evenly split among all team members who participate


Monthly Meetings:

To foster a strong bond among our entire competition team we will have monthly meetings (Dates TBD). These meetings will consist of a team building activity, a relevant lesson about competitions, and a fun dance.

Attending the info session is not mandatory but will be helpful in answering your questions and/or concerns!
